Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is confident their thrashing at Aston Villa was a one-off.

Di Canio has sought to allay fans' fears following his team's 6-1 drubbing at Aston Villa last Monday.

He said: "I know why it happened but we have to make sure it doesn't happen again. When I came here, I said we will decide our future against Stoke and Southampton at home.

"If we win on Monday then we will probably stay up."
