Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has hopes of signing permanently Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha.
The Journal says Bruce will look to sign Onuoha on a permanent basis from Manchester City before the start of the season.
City have asked for £8m for the defender, a fee Sunderland will not pay, but the FA Cup winners have a big squad they need to cut, despite the backing of their billionaire Arab owners.
Bruce feels the price will drop the closer they get to the start of the new season.
