Sunderland boss Bruce preparing for major squad clearout

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce plans to overhaul his squad at the end of the season.

The Sunday Mirror says Bruce is hoping a big clear-out will add a few extra million this summer to the £24m he has coming from the club record sale of England striker Darren Bent to Aston Villa.

Heading for the exit door are Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros, Argentina defender Marcos Angeleri, Ireland schemer Andy Reid, Northern Ireland defender full-back George McCartney, Anton plus centre backs Nyron Nosworthy and Matt Kilgallon.

Bruce said: "For what we are trying to achieve, it's important we finish off the season well."
