Sunderland boss Bruce ponders deals for loan quintet

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is mulling over the loan deals he has this season.

He has already arranged a £2.5m deal for Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady and must now decide on the futures of Nedum Onuoha, John Mensah and Sulley Muntari who are on loan until the end of the season.

Bruce said: "We've got five players on-loan and they've all done great. So my immediate question, is can we secure all of them?

"Elmohamady is done and dusted. I would love to have Welbeck, Onuoha and Muntari who is desperate to come. He's getting fitter and the big question is over his wages because the kid has taken a big drop.

"And then there is John Mensah. He has been unlucky with injuries but we'll see where we are with him at the end of the season."
