Sunderland boss Bruce plans to change away day tactics

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he will need to change tactics for their away trips next season.

The club's problems on the road undermined a strong run at home, where Bruce's men tasted defeat on just three occasions in the league all season.

Bruce told safc.com: "I'm looking at it over the summer and analysing things.

"Are we too open? We've been using Fraizer [Campbell] - an out and out striker - as a wide player. Do I change the system? Do I change the personnel?

"Overall, though, if you look at the bottom 10 last season they found it very difficult away from home. The majority won only two or three games.

"Playing away is very tough in the Premier League, but make no mistake we will be doing our utmost to find a solution.

"If we'd only had average away form last season could have been better for us."
