Sunderland boss Bruce not surprised so many ex-Man Utd stars in management

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce isn't surprised that so many of his former Manchester United teammates have gone into management.

Five members of the 1994 United team later went into management and at one stage last season four were in charge of Premier League clubs, with Bruce at Wigan, Keane at Sunderland, Hughes at Man City and Paul Ince at Blackburn. Bryan Robson was the fifth member of the management club, and while he was not in management last season he has managed in the top flight with Middlesbrough and West Brom.

Bruce told the Sunday Sun: "All of those people loved playing so much. There's nothing quite like the job of a player and what's the nearest thing you can get to that adrenaline rush?

"Some go into coaching, some work with kids but most go into management.

"I think players who have played in successful teams and have won things under strong managers think 'can I do that?'

"It's no surprise to me that so many people in that team went on to have successful careers as managers."
