Sunderland boss Bruce not going anywhere

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says he's committed to lifting the club up the table.

Bruce's team has found some decent form in recent weeks.

He told The Times: "It's a tough job here but I love it and I'm even more determined now than when I walked through the door to get it right, to give people something to shout about. They deserve it.

"Yes, you get tested when you're up against it, but that's also when you earn your money. I've always come out fighting, but it's important to balance that with respect and dignity. To show I understand.

"I can say it because I'm from here - the football club is the thing. In the city of Sunderland, it matters more than just about anything else.

"But that's exactly why I'm here. Can I be the one who sets it on its way?

"Supporters enjoy their team playing football, but they also demand they have a go. You need to have a team which epitomises the North East. Hard work comes first."
