Sunderland boss Bruce hails Westwood influence for Villa draw

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits they owed their point to goalkeeper Kieren Westwood after their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

Westwood was a halftime substitute for Simon Mignolet, who has forced off with a severe facial injury.

Bruce heaped praise on substitute keeper Westwood, who marked his debut by diving bravely to deny what would have been a headline-grabbing goal for Bent.

Bruce added: "Westy has saved us all. He has trained fantastically for weeks and weeks to get his chance and he has pulled off a great save."
