Sunderland boss Bruce: Ferguson will lead Man Utd to title triumph

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce believes Sir Alex Ferguson will guide Manchester United to another Premier League title success this season.

Bruce scoffs at suggestions Ferguson and United might be feeling the pressure of leading from the front after the midweek defeat at Chelsea and is convinced that the Old Trafford outfit have the track record to head off second-placed Arsenal in what he sees as a duel for the title.

Bruce said: "I believe it is a two-horse race now. I can't see anybody making up 10 points on United and Arsenal. For me it's between the two of them with 10 games to play.

"But it will come down to who handles what I call 'the tickly bit' best. We're into the final countdown now and there will be some strange results - teams will drop points when you least expect it.

"People say Man U have been rocking but that defeat against Chelsea was only their second defeat all season. I can't see how people can say they've been rocking.

"Their home form has been absolutely fantastic and rock-solid all season. The biggest thing they have got is experience and know-how. They are used to winning things."

Bruce is convinced it will be Fergie that tips the balance their way.

He explained: "Sir Alex has won the Premier League 11 times out of 18! But his hunger is still very much there to make it 12.

"I marvel at Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger. Year-in and year-out they still have the same enthusiasm and it still burns within them.

"You look at Fergie the other night against Chelsea jumping up and down and he's 69-years- old. He wants it as much as ever."
