Sunderland boss Bruce excited by his attacking options

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he's excited by his attacking options.

Bruce has three on-form strikers in Darren Bent, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck. Keeping them all happy is a challenge.

Bruce said: "It's a dilemma, but it's a nice dilemma.

"What you can't do is try to fit all three players in if it disrupts the system you have been playing.

"Playing 4-3-3 would be the obvious way to accommodate all three strikers, but we haven't played that way in the past so it would be too big a change. I haven't really had this kind of a dilemma before. It's a great problem to have, though.

"Welbeck and Gyan have been playing fantastically well, and we all know what Bent is about. When Benty was injured, Gyan stepped up and took his chance and Danny has been terrific since he's been here - and especially in the last few three or four games.

"And I've certainly never had this kind of choice at my disposal with £30m-plus worth of strikers! Having players of the quality of Bent, Gyan and Welbeck makes me very lucky.

"It shows how much we've improved over the last 18 months.

"When I think back to the team I saw against Portsmouth two seasons ago when this club was nearly relegated, and then look at where we are now, we've made massive strides.

"I've had a lot of help, in that I've been able to go out and spend money on Benty and Gyan, but you need that kind of help as a manager."
