Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is determined to splash out on a new winger this summer.
Bruce will tie up a new loan deal for Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck, so allowing him to throw transfer funds at a new wing signing.
The Daily Mail says Charles N'Zogbia (Wigan Athletic), Adam Johnson (Manchester City) and Stewart Downing (Aston Villa) are all under consideration.
Bruce tried for Downing in January.
