Sunderland boss Bruce confirms striker signing search

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he's in the market for a new striker.

The Black Cats have been linked again with Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh this week.

"If it's possible to sign a striker, we'll be interested," said Bruce to The Journal.

"But as I keep on saying, it's very, very difficult. Teams do not want to lose their players in January and we only want players who are going to come in and improve the team.

"I'm also not going to pay over the odds in January just so I can bring someone in. For instance, there are a few people out there with six months to go on their contract, so if there's a decent deal to be done, we'll have a look and analyse it. I'm sure everybody would like to strengthen."
