Sunderland boss Bruce confident guiding Henderson over form blip

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has no doubts Jordan Henderson will shake off his form jitters.

Henderson, 20 made his senior bow in the 2-1 Wembley friendly defeat by France in November and has since experienced a form slump.

Black Cats boss Bruce said: "It's the first time he's had a little dip in the 18 months or so since he became a regular in our side.

"He's set remarkably high standards for himself.

"He hasn't been poor or anything like that but maybe the England thing caught up with him a bit."

Despite the blip, Brucie is confident the 6ft 2ins midfielder will soon be back to his best, saying: "I've every confidence he'll be fine.

"People are watching him closely now because he's an England player - he's been put on a pedestal.

"I'd expect the big clubs to be monitoring him.

"It has happened to me before with Antonio Valencia when I was at Wigan.''
