Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says Fraizer Campbell could be fit to face former club Tottenham.
With Kenwyne Jones also out for the Spurs trip, as he starts the first game of a three-match ban, Campbell is also battling to be fit for the return to his former club.
The former Manchester United striker, who spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, is recovering from a hip injury and is optimistic he will be back in full training with the first team squad on Thursday.
Bruce added: "Make no mistake, I wish I was going into the game this weekend with my full team, but that's not the case and this is a chance for other players to come in and show what they can do.
"Fraizer will be back in training either today or tomorrow and is champing at the bit to be involved again.
"He was excellent in our cup game against Aston Villa last week. We're also hoping that Bolo will be fit enough to play some part."
