Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says their fans deserved yesterday's 1-1 draw at Arsenal.
The manager was in the eye of the storm as part of frantic celebrations in the stands and on the bench after Bent levelled with the last kick of the game.
The red and white army backed their team superbly throughout and that fact wasn't lost on Bruce, whose side are now unbeaten in four games in all competitions.
"I've said before that one of the reasons I came here was to manage in front of a big crowd and big expectations," he told safc.com.
"It's great for the supporters, for them to go home tonight and enjoy their beer. I thought the stadium roof had come off - it was great to see.
"Crosses were coming in and I thought it wasn't to be our day. But the home record goes on and we hope that continues."
