Sunderland boss Steve Bruce may seek an emergency goalkeeper loan signing.
The Black Cats are down to the bare bones after seeing first-choice shot-stopper Simon Mignolet injured on the weekend.
With Craig Gordon still recuperating from a knee injury, Keiren Westwood is now the only senior keeper available to Bruce.
"Craig is nowhere near and Trevor Carson, who is on loan at Bury, has hurt his back, so we may have to look for special dispensation and maybe get a loan somehow," said Bruce.
"We'll see how things are in the next 24 to 48 hours."
