Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce hailed Duncan Watmore after victory over Stoke City.
Goals in the final 10 minutes from Patrick van Aanholt and Watmore himself saw Sunderland take full advantage.
“Dunc scoring the winner – new contract, masters degree, winning goal – it doesn't get any better than that," beamed Allardyce.
“We just have to make sure he keeps his feet on the ground.
“On what he has shown me in the short time I've been here, I had no hesitation when Jermain [Defoe] said he felt his hamstring for him to be the substitute to come on today.
“And I think Duncan's impact is one of the major factors in winning this game, he caused the central defenders so many problems in the first half, then in the second half they also had to resort to fouling him which got Shawcross sent off.
“Then we had to find two pieces of outstanding quality to beat a resilient Stoke side, and that was from Adam [Johnson] and Patrick's free-kick, and then young Dunc scoring a great goal."
