Sunderland boss Roy Keane is ready to make an improved bid for Reading fullback Nicky Shorey.
The Daily Mail says Keane failed with a £3 million offer last week, but has since admitted he desperately wants to bring in a new left back and hopes to land the England defender.
He is expected to up his bid to £4 million in a bid to tempt Steve Coppell to sell the 27-year-old.
