Sunderland have launched a £10 million bid for Everton striker Andy Johnson.

The Daily Mail says England striker Johnson, 27, scored just 10 goals for David Moyes's team last season and has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Manchester City, who are prepared to offer £7m.

Moyes, who paid Crystal Palace £8.6m for Johnson two years ago, may now be willing to cash in despite needing extra bodies for the UEFA Cup campaign.
