Sunderland battle Galatasaray for Blackburn striker McCarthy

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is moving for Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy.

The Daily Mail says the 30-year-old is ready to quit Rovers and the lure of the Champions League had put Galatasaray in pole position, although they were not prepared to match a £10million asking price.

But Keane, who was told Rovers would not sell last week, has returned to the table and is prepared to pay £7m.

That could be enough to tempt Blackburn to sell and the possibility of working with Keane has interested the South Africa striker, who feels he needs a fresh challenge.
