Sunderland have joined the battle for Olympique Marseille winger Andre Ayew.

Ghana sources say Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is leaning heavily on John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan to convince Ayew about life on Wearside.

Sunderland are competing with the likes of Bayern Munich and Stuttgart for the son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele.

However, having two senior Ghana teammates on their books could swing a deal for Ayew in Sunderland's favour.
