Sunderland 'angry and frustrated' over England Allardyce delays

Sunderland admit they're "angry" over Sam Allardyce' imminent appointment as England coach.

The London Evening Standard says the 61-year-old has won the race to succeed Roy Hodgson, who stepped down after England's Euro 2016 exit to Iceland.

Sunderland released a statement on Wednesday evening which read: "Naturally we are aware of the intense media speculation this evening, however, at the present time Sam Allardyce remains Sunderland manager.

"We share in the anger and frustration of our supporters and would like to assure them that we are working to conclude the matter in the best interests of Sunderland AFC."

Allardyce is expected to be appointed by England soon and will take charge of England for the first time in a friendly on September 1.
