Sunderland are monitoring Diego Forlan's situation at Atletico Madrid.
The former Manchester United striker came close to joining Sunderland earlier this season and remains on the Black Cats' shopping list.
Sport says Atletico are ready to cash in on Forlan at the end of the season - for the right offer.
