Sunderland have joined the battle for Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou.
The People says Sunderland have moved ahead of local rivals Newcastle United in the race to sign £12million-rated Lille stopper Chedjou.
However, AC Milan have also made enquiries for Chedjou this week.
