Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid insists he won't get down after his latest snub from Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.
Reid was overlooked again by Trapattoni on Friday when he named his 25-man squad for this month's two-legged World Cup play-off with France.
"It would be pointless letting the Ireland thing affect me and my performances," he said after starring in Sunderland's 2-2 weekend draw with West Ham. "It wouldn't do me any favours in the long run.
"I don't pick the squad; I go out on the pitch and perform at the level I am. I can't do any more than I am.
"I just have to prove to my manager here that I deserve to be in the Sunderland team. As long as I am in the team and do my job then I'm happy with that.
"I can't control anything else outside of that. I can only do the best that I can and give everything I have in every game.
"I can't do anything different and I'm not going to do anything different."
