West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has confirmed they attempted to sign Olympique Lyon winger Sidney Govou.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Sullivan admits West Ham had given up on France winger Govou, who is bound for Turkey after leaving Lyon on a free.

"That was big money but he's a very, very good player," said Sullivan. "We're looking to sign a balance of experienced senior players and good young players who can make the jump."
