Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in New York this week ... meeting with Pep Guardiola. El Mundo Deportivo says Ferguson and Guardiola are both conspicuous in their absence from UEFA's elite coaching forum, being held in Switzerland.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho discovered Ferguson's whereabouts after calling the Scot when learning he wouldn't be attending the summit.

And former Barcelona coach Guardiola also declined an invitation to attend by UEFA.

He relocated his family to New York last month.

And it's suggested Ferguson flew to New York with the purpose of discussing the United job with Guardiola. It's claimed he is ready to hand over the reins to the Spaniard at the end of this season.
