AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has had successful surgery in Belgium to repair his right knee.

A statement from AC Milan said: "Milan would like to communicate that Gattuso was operated on today by Professor Marc Martens and his team.

"The player's right knee ligaments were reconstructed and the surgery was a complete success. His recovery period will be around six months."
