Liverpool fullback Philipp Degen has joined Stuttgart on-loan for the season.
The Swiss defender, 27, moved to Anfield on a free transfer in 2008 from Borussia Dortmund.
But he has been told he does not feature in new Reds boss Roy Hodgson's plans.
The move sees Degen reunited with Stuttgart coach Christian Gross, the pair having worked together at Basel.
Degen, who has 31 caps, said: "For me this loan represents a great chance to rediscover my best form."
Stuttgart finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season, a result that qualified them for the Europa League.
