Stuttgart sports director Horst Heldt has revealed an approach from Tottenham for defender Fernando Meira.

"Up until now, only Tottenham have contacted us," he told Stuttgarter Zeitung. "We have only learned from the media about the alleged interest from Galatasaray and Panathinaikos.

"But, first, the player must find the best solution for him anyway.

"Then we will negotiate with the club of his choice."
