German club VfB Stuttgart produced an early goal rush to take control of their final group stage match against Romanian outfit Unirea Urziceni in the Champions League.

Stuttgart needed a win to replace Unirea in second place in Group F and book their place in the round of 16 and the match could not have started off any better for the Germans.

A 5th minute goal to Ciprian Marica was the tonic the home side needed and it only got better three minutes later when Christian Trasch raced past the Unirea defence and slotted home to make it 2-0.

And the in the 11th minute, Pavel Pogrebnyak made it 3-0 when he finished from close range to effectively wrap the match up with just under 80 minutes remaining.

the visitors managed to get one goal back, through Antonio Semedo, a minute after the break but they could not fight back any harder and surrendered their place in the knockout stage for the Germans who had lost manager Markus Babbel on Monday and recorded their first victory under Christian Gross.
