Stuttgart coach Christian Gross wants a reunion with Liverpool fullback Philippe Degen.

The Mirror says the Swiss full back is considered part of the deadwood at the Merseyside club after failing abjectly to force his way into the reckoning.

But Stuttgart boss Gross, the former Tottenham manager, knows Degen from his time as Switzerland manager, and he is prepared to offer him an escape route.

Liverpool will accept a bid of around £2million.
