VfB Stuttgart lent on German expertise ahead of taking Takuma Asano on-loan from Arsenal.
The Japan striker signed for the Gunners earlier this summer from Sanfrecce Hiroshima and has now joined VfB for the season.
Stuttgart sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser revealed midfielder Hajime Hosogai tipped them off about Asano, along with former Germany star Guido Buchwald.
He declared: "He exudes great confidence, is two-footed, quick and very mobile.
"The consultation with Hajime Hosogai helped us win Takuma for us. Also Guido Buchwald, who alerted VfB early on to Takuma. Takuma has since remained our focus.
"Both the club and the player wanted the move, so the initial situation fits perfectly."
