Stuttgart challenge Liverpool, Tottenham for Rangers defender Wilson

Stuttgart are challenging Liverpool for Rangers defender Danny Wilson.

The Daily Record says the Bundesliga side are keen to land the 18-year-old defender whose dream switch to Liverpool is on the verge of collapsing following the dismissal of boss Rafa Benitez last week.

Scotland's Young Player of the Year first came to the Germans' attention when he played against them in the Champions League at Ibrox last season.

Stuttgart coach Markus Babbel was hugely impressed by Wilson's display and although he was sacked in December, the club continued to monitor his progress.

New boss Christian Gross is also an admirer and has asked to be kept informed of Wilson's situation.

Rangers turned down an initial £2.5million bid by Liverpool, increasing to £4m with add-ons. Spurs are also interested.
