Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has welcomed the arrival of Paul Mariner as new head coach. There has been speculation that Mariner, formerly assistant coach at New England Revolution in the USA, has been brought in to ease Sturrock out.

But Sturrock said: "Paul is a get-up-and-go type of person who wears his heart on his sleeve and his arrival has benefited us.

"We worked very well, we're well suited."
