Sturridge urges Chelsea to back him and McEachran next season

Chelsea striker Danny Sturridge wants the club to give youth their chance.

The England Under-21 striker is determined to lead the charge as the London outfit's young guns battle to make an impact next term.

He told The Sun: "I want to stay at Chelsea and fight for my place. Next season I want a starting place and maybe to get into the full England side as well.

"From there, I just want to try and win as many trophies as I can."

Chelsea fans are keen to see the likes of Sturridge, Josh McEachran, Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta and Ryan Bertrand given more opportunities to shine at the Bridge.

And Sturridge has highlighted midfielder McEachran, 18, as someone who can deliver for both club and country.

He added: "McEachran will be a huge player for Chelsea because he's got everything a midfielder needs in his game.

"He's very young but I don't think his age has anything to do with what he can do on the pitch.

"He'll be playing first-team football next season as he's ready for it now."
