Sturridge still a 'bit of time away' from Liverpool return - Rodgers

Daniel Sturridge is not yet ready to return to the Liverpool line-up according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

The England striker has not played for the Reds since August 31 after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty in early September.

Sturridge was getting set for a comeback late last month but suffered a setback when injuring his calf in training which has continued to keep him out of action.

Rodgers was quizzed on the fitness of Sturridge, who joined the Reds squad in Spain for Tuesday night's Champions League clash with Real Madrid, and admitted that he was still some time off featuring for the Anfield club.

"Daniel is out on the field today with the rehab team," said Rodgers.

"He was moving very well but he is probably a bit of time away I think."

This season, Sturridge has made just three appearances for one goal in the Premier League.
