Stunning Remy form continues as Newcastle roll Tottenham

Loic Remy was again in goalscoring form as Newcastle United edged Tottenham 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The French striker, on a season-long loan from QPR, netted his seventh goal in his last seven Premier League outings to beat Spurs away from home and his performance was not lost on manager Alan Pardew who felt he gave the Toon a base for a crucial victory.

"He scores goals," Pardew simply told Sky Sports.

"We felt that, because the centre-halves of Tottenham play high, there will be chances in behind. He had a chance just before and I thought he should have scored then.

"But he took the second one really well and he gave us a platform to win the game.

"He has got a silkiness to the way he moves and a nice kind of gait, the way he runs and everything. He really is a classy-looking performer, which is great if you back it up with goals.

"It kind of elevates him and he stands out, but I thought Shola Ameobi was terrific in the 60 minutes he played. He was as important as Loic, I thought."
