Struggling Spurs spent £65M on defence in three seasons

Tottenham's re-signing of Pascal Chimbonda from Sunderland has the Londoners spending over £64 MILLION on their defence in the last three seasons. In the last three seasons alone they have splashed out on THIRTEEN keepers and defenders.

Chimbonda, 29, re-signed yesterday just months after leaving for Sunderland to take Tottenham's spending on FOUR right-backs alone to £27m, says The Sun.

Signing Chimbonda twice has cost Spurs £7.5m, Alan Hutton was a £9m buy from Rangers, Vedran Corluka arrived from Manchester City for £8.5m and Chris Gunter signed from Cardiff for £2m.

But despite Tottenham splashing the cash, they have continued to leak goals with only bottom two Stoke and West Brom having a worse league record on the road.

Spurs have conceded 19 on their travels while tonight's opponents Stoke have been hit for 24 and rock-bottom Baggies for 21.
