Strachan intent on guiding Scotland to Euro2016

Gordon Strachan says he wants to lead Scotland to a major tournament sooner than later.

The Scots have jumped to 35th on the FIFA rankings after some recent good form and Strachan wants to bring some more happiness to the nation by getting to Euro2016 in just over four years' time.

"The fact that you can make a nation happy is an incredible thing. That's the biggest thing about being an international boss. You literally can help to make a nation happy with the players' work," he said.

"The positive response from people is the kind of petrol that makes you feel good, keeps you going. We are enjoying winning and it does make a difference to our lifestyle, the players and coaches.

"I hope it does the same to football supporters as well but you can only dream about giving them what they are after. It would be great to give them a tournament.

"It's like the Irish - they make a tournament better, there's no doubt about it. The tournaments I've been to do miss Scotland supporters. The Irish try to make up for it but I feel we're even better."
