Strachan determined to get Scottish team back to winning ways

Newly-appointed Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has winning as the first and foremost issue on his agenda.

The 55-year old has been employed by the Scottish Football Association to get things back on track with the Scottish team and he is targeting a fairly simple way of doing just that.

Strachan is aware success comes down to a few varied aspects but ultimately he wants to follow the blueprint set by Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson.

"The first objective we have is to win," said the former Celtic, Middlesbrough and Southampton boss.

"We'd all like to play a certain style of football, but winning is the main thing.

"You have to get the best system that suits our best players and pick that system.

"It might not be beautiful football and passing but we all want to win.

"Liverpool like to pass the ball and Stoke City have their own way of playing.

"But Alex Ferguson's way is just about winning. There's a variation involved, but it's about winning.

"So we have to try to get some wins, that's for sure."
