Strachan confident of getting Scotland team on track

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan is supremely confident of improving the way his side performs.

The Scots currently sit at the foot of their Group A World Cup qualifying table with just five points from eight outings but Strachan is set to implement some new ideas in order to get things back on track.

Scotland meet Macedonia in Skopje on Tuesday before their final group match against Croatia next month and the manager is keen to bring in some fresh ideas and try some new players in order to turn it around.

"At times we looked like we could win but at times we looked like we were playing a good, top side," Strachan said in regards to Friday's loss to Belgium. "But we took a lot of positives from the game and if I can tweak it here and tweak it there and add a few players to our squad we will be fine.

"We have not gone back the way. It has levelled out on that one. I actually think we had five, six, seven performances and there was one or two away from decent performances, a slip here and a slip there.

"But this whole thing is all about getting to understand players better, which I am doing. They understand me better. I want to get to a state like a club side.

"And to do that you need to know the players well. I'm getting to know the players who you can definitely rely on, no matter the circumstances.

"So I'm getting all that now, which is good. Better to get that now so I know in years' time we will be ready.

"We are making progress as a group, getting to know each other, and understanding what the training means. It's quite intensive."
