Strachan: Barcelona hold no fear for Celtic

Gordon Strachan says that his Celtic team holds no fear ahead of tonight's Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Celtic have already beaten Milan this season and have a formidable unbeaten home record in Europe stretching back to 2004.

"We have faced great players before in Europe, and we are respectful of great players," Strachan said. "But we don't really fear anybody - we are just respectful.

"Hopefully, there is a fear in our play when we don't have the ball. We need to have a fear of the other team scoring that is for sure. But over the last few years, we have faced Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo, Kaka, Pirlo, Simao… some great players have been here.

"Barcelona have a lot of smashing players, but we think we have good players as well. We need to give our good players the platform to go and play football, and at the same time, stop Barcelona's good players."

Key midfielder Scott Brown is suspended while new signing Andreas Hinkel is cup-tied.

"It's exciting. I'm looking forward to the game. We've had a good day at training and the players will be ready.

"We are looking forward to it and I think there is just a feeling of excitement."
