Stoke's Pericard eyes new contract

Vincent Pericard is hoping to earn a new contract with Stoke City. The 25-year-old scored his first goal in two years in Tuesday's Carling Cup victory over Reading and only his fourth since moving from Portsmouth in June 2006.

Pericard, whose contract expires next summer, told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm knocking on the manager's door, he knows I'm here.

"Hopefully with more games, I can change his mind."
