Stokes delighted after Lennon signs new Celtic deal

Anthony Stokes put aside his differences with Celtic manager Neil Lennon by praising the club for securing him to a new deal.

The striker had a few run-ins with Lennon last season but insists he is the man for the job at Celtic Park and that the new contract was thoroughly deserved.

"I don't think any other manager deserves a contract as much as he does," Stokes told SunSport.

"Off the pitch he's had so much to deal with.

"Among the players, and no disrespect to anyone who has been here over the last few years, we've gone up a level. Some of the football we played this year has been unbelievable at times.

"We were disappointed not to win the league.

"We wanted it for ourselves, but after everything the manager went through, it would have been nice to do it for him."
