After being released by Stoke City, defender Marlon Broomes has joined Blackpool.

The 30-year-old, who began his career with Blackburn before spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Preston, has signed a one-year deal following his release by the Potters.

A statement from Blackpool said: "The Seasiders have made their first signing of the summer with the capture of defender Marlon Broomes on a free-transfer.

"Broomes has agreed an initial one-year-deal with an option for a further year."
