Stoke's Beattie deal gets thumbs up from Chelsea striker Anelka

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has backed Stoke City's deal for former Sheffield United striker James Beattie.

Before yesterday's victory over the Potters, Anelka told chelseafc.com: "For Stoke I think it is a good move.

"At the same time, when you are new at a new team and you have to play straight away, it is a little bit difficult because you don't know anybody, you don't know the style of the team, you don't know the club.

"You are new and you need some games to really show what you can do. Beattie is a good player. He scored a lot of goals in the Premier League before and I think he will do well.

"You have seen your new team play before so you understand a little bit,' he continues, 'but not like where you were playing before. Of course you know football and you know what to do but the players who play with you don't know you like the players who were with you before.

"They have to get used to you and it takes a little bit of time."
