Stoke winger Shea wins it for USA in Gold Cup

USA have made it three wins from three group matches at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Juergen Klinsmann's side defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in East Hartford courtesy of a later goal from Brek Shea to move through to the quarter-finals as Group C's top side.

The Stoke City winger latched onto a marvellous first-time ball from Landon Donovan to take a touch before slotting home past Ticos goalkeeper Patrick Pemberton in the 82nd minute for his first international goal.

The victory allowed the US to finish on nine points from their three group matches with a goal difference of nine, three clear of the second-placed Costa Ricans, and well ahead of Cuba and Belize.

USA will next take on Group B runners-up El Salvador at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Sunday, July 21.
