Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant admits he regrets joining Arsenal as a teenager.
Pennant became the country's most expensive teenager when he signed for Arsenal for £2m aged just 15.
He told The Sentinel: "When my dad told me we were going to London to speak to Arsenal, I said 'What for?'
"We met Arsene Wenger and I was star-struck by him and the place. The next day, me and my father came back on the train. I picked up a newspaper and on the back of it was me!"
However, Pennant would only start two Premier League games in his six years with the Gunners before he moved to Birmingham for £3m.
He added: "When I look back, I would have been better staying at Notts County for a year or two, played some professional football and left a bit later on, but how can you turn down a move to Arsenal?"
