Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant regrets not breaking into the England squad.
Pennant accepts he should've achieved more earlier in his career.
He told the Daily Star: "The England thing is definitely a regret. I know I would probably have got the opportunity if I'd taken certain paths differently.
"I'm not blaming anyone else - it's only my own fault. It didn't happen but I've had a good career.
"I'm only 30. I've definitely not shut the door on England. Look at Rickie Lambert, he's 31.
"You are representing your country - I understand that. I'm sure past misdemeanours and my reputation have played a part.
"All I can do is do my best. Your reputation can tarnish you with people who don't know you. They can perceive you as a bad person rather than if it's childish and silly things."
